The Lions were a few goals down early before Toni Bootland stepped on and took control in defence, taking crucial intercepts that allowed the Lions to go into the break at quarter time ahead.
All the girls gave 100 per cent throughout the game with strong leads and accurate passing into Shona Gesler and Mia Allen in the ring.
Toni Bootland, Sarah Waite and Sophie Munro worked so hard in the defensive end, constantly putting pressure on the Rochester goalers.
Grace Barry, Casey Drummond and Layne Lewis carried the ball down the court with efficiency, controlling the mid court.
The Lions had the game under control at three quarter time and enjoyed the last quarter, knowing they’d finish the day with medals around their necks.
Congratulations to Courtney Aldous on coaching an incredible undefeated season and well done to Toni Bootland who was adjudged Best on Court by the umpires.

Australian Trenching & Excavations UNDER 15s Seymour 21 def by Mansfield 41 It was a bright and early start for the Lions in Mansfield who worked tirelessly but came up short in the end. The pressure in defence stepped up, creating many turnovers but the Lions were unable to fully capitalise on these. Isabel Meller and Eden Webster were both strong in defense despite the very accurate Mansfield goalers providing little opportunity for rebounds. Charlotte Bradley was accurate at the other end of the court, creating space in the goal ring. The girls are continuing to improve their skills and gel as a team each week. Whistle Award: Isabel Meller Trawool Shed - Cafe, Cottages & Restaurant UNDER 17s Seymour 31 def by Mansfield 45 The Lions couldn’t get the win after a fantastic performance last week. Paige Cooper’s defence in the circle was outstanding, creating many turnovers and taking some amazing rebounds to give the team lots of opportunities to score. Sophie Butterworth created great space in the ring and took some beautiful shots. Ella Zotti worked tirelessly all day in the middle of the court creating great pressure. The 17s girls kept their heads up in this tough game and will be back next week to try and get the W! O’Sullivan Builders Award: Paige Cooper O’SULLIVAN BUILDERS B RESERVE Seymour 63 def Mansfield 12 The Lions got off to a confident start with the whole team firing, piling on 20 goals in the first quarter while keeping Mansfield to a solitary goal. Ruby Trimble was everywhere and crucial to many goals, giving the team plenty of scoring opportunities. Mia Allen and Shona Gesler were reliable as always, shooting accurately. A great team effort and a great win. Inari Sushi Award: Shona Gesler Seymour Hardware Group B GRADE Seymour 76 def Mansfield 15 It was a great team effort by all the girls in what was a flawless win. Our team showed great spirit and determination throughout. Toni Bootland was instrumental with lots of turnovers in a best on court performance. It was a consistent four quarter effort with a nice start to the game as Chloe Butterworth and Ashlyn Webster started strongly. Rooks Pizza Award: Toni Bootland Beer Auto Group Seymour A GRADE Seymour 73 def Mansfield 25 The game started out with quick footwork and great ball movement from Seymour, adding on eleven goals for the quarter. The Lions saw two Under 17s step into the game with Taylah Mason and Ella Zotti making great connections through the mid court. Ally Black was a standout with accuracy in the goal circle and feeds into Ellie Fuhrmeister. A really consistent game from the Lions with various combinations. The last quarter was brilliant with 21 goals scored.

The new look forward combination of Cam Osmond and Jack Radford proved a handful yet again with Osmond putting in a best on ground performance that included a couple of handy goals. Through the middle of the ground Joel Badger, Jay Eager and Max McLean combined well, working tirelessly in the heat of the day. A 5 goal second term was the highlight for the Lions but a seven goal to one second half in favour of the Swans put them out of the game. A high scoring third term kept the Lions within touching distance at the final break before the Swans kicked away to win the game by 38 points. Nic Quigg and Dylan Cook picked up where they left off in Round 1, combining well in the midfield and working hard across the ground in the heat. They were well supported by Jack Murphy and Nathan Beattie and while Seamus Feery was outsized in the ruck, he was tireless all day. The Lions will be looking to put together a consistent four quarter effort next week and get on the board for 2025. Australian Trenching & Excavations UNDER 15s Seymour 21 def by Swans 53 The Lions put together a solid showing in the heat against the Swans who always bring a quality side to Kings Park. Eden Webster provided plenty of strong rebounds in defence with Edenrose Dundon working well with strong drives in WA. Some great pressure throughout the court allowed the Lions to make consistent turnovers. The girls did well considering the heat but it wasn’t our day. Eva Hay did really well, taking on feedback in a best on court performance. Café 96 Award: Eva Hay Trawool Shed - Cafe, Cottages & Restaurant UNDER 17s Seymour 44 def Swans 34 The Lions came pumped up and ready to bounce back after a Round 1 defeat. Taylah Mason and Ella Zotti gave their all for four quarters, working tirelessly up and down the court causing many turnovers and hard drives. Ivy Watson provided great movement in the ring, creating great space and shot beautifully. The team stepped up from last week – they were connected and bought great intensity to the game leading to their great win. O’Sullivan Builders Award: Taylah Mason O’SULLIVAN BUILDERS B RESERVE Seymour 36 def Swans 27 The Lions made an energetic start to the game with all the girls on the court firing from the first whistle. Sarah Waite had fantastic footwork in the defensive circle, providing the team with many rebounding opportunities. Chloe Locke read the play extremely well, contributing strongly to the win. Casey Drummond was a workhorse as usual through the midcourt with Paige Cooper stepping up from the Under 17s and making a positive impact. Whistle Award: Sarah Waite Seymour Hardware Group B GRADE Seymour 43 def Swans 40 The Lions faced some tough opposition with some great netball played by both sides throughout the game. Thankfully, an 18 goal last term saw the Lions take a 3 goal win. Ashlyn Webster stood up in the final quarter, playing a huge role in the Lions getting over the line. Madilyn Hager worked very hard in defensive, obtaining several important turnovers. A great team effort from everyone in the heat of the day. Club Dinner Award: Ashlyn Webster Inari Sushi Award: Madilyn Hager Beer Auto Group Seymour A GRADE Seymour 56 def Swans 48 There was a large crowd at the netball to celebrate Ellie Fuhrmeister being awarded GVL Life Membership for 200 A Grade games. The first quarter saw a 13 goal blitz from Ruby Martin and Ellie Fuhrmeister, working beautifully together in the circle. Rosie O’Sullivan worked tirelessly with hard drives off the line to win numerous centre passes. Casey Adamson led through the mid court, picking off wayward Swan passes and creating opportunities to score. Courtney Aldous, Naomi Fitzpatrick and Bridie Cantwell played with strong defensive pressure right across the mid court and into the Swans’ goal circle. The eight goal win was hard fought in the Autumn heat.
