Seymour 29 v United 39

A cold, chilly morning up at Deakin provided for a great day opener. The first half of the game was close at both ends. Kyra Pearce showed her strength throughout the game with positive turnovers and strong defensive pressure, earning herself an award.

Sophie Butterworth followed suit, with three different positions showing her versatility and strength across all three thirds.

The girls tried but the Demons were too strong but we will look to next week for another go.

The first quarter was an even contest between both sides with Dylan Scopel standing out for his run and drive through the middle of the ground. In the second term, the Lions were able to obtain some breathing space in a five goal to one quarter. While Benalla had a chance to get back in the game, inaccurate kicking in front of goal was capitalised upon by the Lions who played a great final quarter in wet conditions. Jack Murphy and Nathan Beattie were ball magnets again, with Lachlan Beattie putting in a fantastic performance after missing last week through injury.
