O'Keefe's IGA Seymour Reserves

Seymour 12.12.84 def Echuca 6.4.40

The Lions knew they were up for a tough test against Echuca, who always put a strong side on the park.

It proved a difficult first term with Seymour trailing at the break before they flicked the switch and dominated the remainder of the game.

Back to back four goal quarters through the middle of the game put the Lions in an unbeatable position at three quarter time, allowing the boys to wrap up a great win away from home.

Sam Fuhrmeister stood above the rest to finish best on ground, taking crucial intercept and contested marks all day to provide drive from the defensive end.

Cooper Lubeck and Regan Gardner were superb through the middle of the ground as Joel Durham continued his strong form in the ruck.

In the forward line, Jack Radford kicked another bag of 5 goals, to see him sitting in a comfortable position atop the Reserves GVL goalkickers table.

The Lions will now take on top of the table Kyabram at home this weekend.

Best: S Fuhrmeister, C Lubeck, R Gardner, J Durham, J Radford
Goals: J Radford 5, O Munro 3, S McMaster 2, C Osmond 1, J Morgan 1

Seymour Club Seniors

Seymour 4.15.39 def by Echuca 10.15.75

It was a tough day for the Seniors up at Echuca, going down by six goals in a game that could have been much closer.

A slow start in the first quarter saw the Lions give up a three goal advantage, one they worked hard at pegging back through the middle quarters.

Despite dominating play in the third quarter, with 9 scoring shots to 3, some inaccurate kicking cost the Lions a chance to have their noses in front going into the final term.

Echuca proved too good in the last, running over the top to claim the win.

Nathan Beattie, Jack Murphy and James Wooster remained consistent, winning plenty of ball through the middle of the ground, while Lewis Lubeck worked up the field and played a strong game in his 50th for the club.

Darcy Giles provided tremendous pressure around the ball, showing fantastic work rate.

The Lions get the chance to put their best foot forward against the undefeated Kyabram at home this weekend.

Best: N Beattie, J Murphy, L Lubeck, D Giles, J Wooster
Goals: R Mason 2, W Le Deux 1, C Powell 1

Seymour FNC News

By Mitch Itter June 22, 2026
The Seymour Football Netball Club (SFNC) will celebrate a significant milestone this weekend, with Senior Co-Coach and Captain Jack Murphy set to play his 150th senior game for the Lions. Since making his senior debut in 2015, Murphy has established himself as one of the premier players in the Goulburn Valley League. Over the past decade, Murphy has built an outstanding football resume. A dual Senior Best & Fairest winner, GVL Interleague representative, League MVP and former Coburg VFL player, he has consistently performed at an elite level while representing the Lions with distinction. While his individual achievements are impressive, Murphy's influence extends far beyond the football field. Renowned for his professionalism, work ethic and commitment to the club, he has played a significant role in driving standards and helping develop the next generation of Lions players. Now serving as Senior Co-Coach, Murphy continues to lead from the front each week and remains one of the competition's most influential midfielders. SFNC President Peter Elliott said Murphy's contribution to the Lions over the past 11 seasons has been remarkable. “Murph has been an outstanding servant of our football club and thoroughly deserves this recognition,” Mr Elliott said. “His achievements on the field are exceptional, but it's the way he goes about it that sets him apart. “He's one of the hardest workers at the club, a fantastic leader and someone who is so passionate about the success of the Seymour Lions. “He's represented our club with distinction throughout his career and continues to set the standard both as a player and coach. “To reach 150 senior games is a fantastic achievement and one that both Murph and everyone associated with the club should be proud of. “We're incredibly fortunate to have had Murph at Seymour for so long and look forward to seeing him continue to make an impact in the years ahead.”
